NJ Football ‘23 RB Torin Harmon Wants Back To Back State Titles This Fall

Monmouth Beach, NJ: There are certainly benefits if you find yourself playing on one of the best football teams in New Jersey, and by proxy the country.

You have a much better chance at getting seen by college coaches, even if you might not be the “star” player on the team.

For Torin Harmon, who averaged over 10 yards per carry on the 11-1 Red Bank Catholic squad that won the Non-Public B title in 2021, that is not really the case: he showed everyone last season that whenever he touched the ball, he was a threat to take it to the house.

Now, as a senior on a team looking to replace over 1,000 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, Harmon is going to get the ball more often, and form (with Sabino Portella) one of the best backfield duos in the whole state.

The rising senior already has some colleges interested, thanks to his mix of on and off the field accolades. He is 5-9.5, 200 pounds, and has been working hard in the weight room to get stronger and faster (4.6 40). In the classroom, Harmon had a 3.0 GPA before his junior year grades settled.

Oh, and he is a two-time Nike National All-Star in lacrosse as well.

Here is a scouting report on the two-sport star:

“He is fast. But he is also quick: he gets to the hole, bursts through, and is down the field for a 10-yard gain. I think he has a monster season in 2022. He is going to share some carries as the team does to keep everyone fresh, but he is going to see his numbers take a huge jump this fall.

“He is such a good athlete, as you can see by his lacrosse accolades. This team is going to be very good, and he is going to get a lot of looks and potential offers. He is a home-run hitter.”
