GoMVB Signs Colts Neck Cougar ALL-DIVISION LB John Manos
COLTS NECK, NEW JERSEY - GoMVB has announced the onboarding of Colts Neck Cougar, John Manos, Class of 2022. Manos, in his junior year, was a key part of the Colts Neck Cougars division championship season and was named 1st Team All Division at linebacker.
“Right now, John is 175 lbs. but he plays the game inside the box like a player of 220,” said GoMVB Coach Pat Marzo. “The reason Manos is such a defensive star is because of his ability to move to the perimeter and deep safety as well.”
John’s versatility is shown via his 64 tackles, 3 interceptions, five pass deflections, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Remember those numbers, as impressive as they are, these stats were accomplished in a shortened season.
“The best part about Manos is that his contributions to the game did not end there,” continued Marzo, “a punt block as well as 200 plus yards on the ground via 35 carries alongside three touchdowns … and for good measure, he added 40 yards receiving to his resume on 5 grabs from slot receiver.”
Manos didn’t just put up numbers but he did it strategically when it counted. His interception, while covering a D1 offered receiver for Manalapan, sealed an overtime win for Colts Neck that also locked up the division title. John fulfills the adage of "big time players make big time plays.”
The best part is Manos is a lock to be a player at the next level because of his sheer strength. With numbers like 305+ lbs. on the bench, 515 on the deadlift and 405 on the squat, this junior who just turned 17 years old is destined to be a strong college safety or slot receiver/back.
“When he’s 19 years old and 195 lbs., his weight room stats are going to be off the charts,” said Marzo.
