Class of 2026 QB Drake DeGroote Ready to Come into Good Valley Program
West Des Moines, IA: When you look at what the Valley High School football team did last year in 5A Group 1 Iowa play, you will see that the Tigers had a very good run in the regular season.
They went unbeaten in the division to win the title, and won their first two playoff games, before falling to division rivals Ankany to finish 9-3.
So there is some hype around the 2022 season, and rising freshman quarterback Drake DeGroote is coming into that this fall. The 14-year-old 5-10, 150-pound QB is ready to make his mark in the program and wants to continue hanging banners on the football field.
Off the field, DeGroote will come into high school as a stellar student, with a 3.7 GPA in middle school. He has a lot of promise and will look to start off his ninth grade academic and athletic year in style.
Here is a scouting report on the QB:
“He is growing into his frame, but has done a good job so far playing at the lower levels. He has good timing on his throws, and has shown very good footwork. The jump up to varsity football is always an interesting one, because you are now facing 18-year-old players that have been in the system for a while, but I think DeGroote will be able to handle it.
“He is most likely going to get a chance to ease into it, but he is very smart, and will pick up the system quickly. I expect to see big things down the road from the QB.”
